Seasons of the Heart
As unpredictable as the weather

Was time.
Changing like the seasons
Were the people.
Friends turned foes.
Close ones grew distant.
Some came, some left.
Some brought joy that burst like spring,
Some left behind the chill of winter.
Some gave memories wrapped in laughter,
Others carved lessons deep in silence.
Some were forgotten,
While others lingered -
Like the scent of rain on dry earth.
There were times when life felt perfect -
Just the way it was.
And times when it turned bitter and wild,
A long, winding road
Woven with shadows,
Yearning for a sliver of light.
Moments spent in great company.
Moments that never returned.
Moments in deep solitude,
Wandering through thought and wonder,
Dreaming of a distant future.
Come what may,
Like the saying goes -
Life goes on.
As you desperately
Seek something constantly
In this vast, shifting universe,
You begin to realise -
If there ever was a constant
In this ever-changing world,
It must be change itself.
The moment you surrender
To this truth,
You let yourself be carried by the current-
Far across the distance,
Over hills and silent valleys,
Into deep forests and forgotten lands,
Across the seven seas...
Until one day-
You merge with the mighty ocean.
That’s when you let yourself
Be reduced to a speck of dust,
Carried into the infinite unknown.
To unite with the universe -
Returning to a form so ancient,
It had changed a thousand times
Only to become
What it once was.
That’s when the truth hits you
Like a storm:
You’ve changed too.
You’ve seen change.
You’ve been the change.
You are the change.
You are your constant.

Author's Note:
The title of this poem is inspired by an old classic I watched as a child — a heart-touching movie that has quietly stayed with me through the years. Its essence, though subtle, lingered in my memory and gently found its way into this piece. Like the film, this poem reflects the shifting tides of love, time, and identity — the many seasons the heart must weather in this ever-changing journey called life.
