Unraveled Hues

A bunch of tresses they were,
In hues so pretty and subtle,
Curled up tight they lay
Right in the middle of the pathway.

They were entangled so tight
That the loose ends were nowhere
In sight.

We detangled them bit by bit,
As they began to unravel a mystery,
Not realizing that they were
Cleverly hiding it.

The loose ends
Now lay in plain sight.
We held firm,
We held them tight.

We tugged at them
With all our might,
Slowly drifting afar
As we went out of sight

Farther and farther we ebbed away,
Until the tresses gave way,
They arched further away
In an upward sway.

The beautiful tresses spread
Out wide,
With no more fears to hide,
Weaving a grand tapestry
A life ride

Oh!
"Don't let go," she cried,

So tight and firm
We held,
Marveling at the beauty
Unraveled.

"Ah! You are a wonder," I sighed.
Aa a blush—
Orange to peach—
She tried to hide,
Her diamond pendant
Just within reach.

The stone shone bright,
Its luster bathing her in golden light.
As she looked down
Tears welled up in her eyes, a hazel brown

The tears, shimmering in the light,
Doused the rays of the diamond,
That faded light.

Alas!

How I wish I could travel this far in life,
Always being his love, his wife she longed.

"My better half."
I smiled and replied,
