The Breakup

"Where are you?" she shrieked.

Oh no! Not again!

Just tell me,
You haven’t left me!

I know! It’s my fault!
Let’s talk.
Please.
We can work this out.

You are my sunshine,
You are my moonlight.
Your glowing face is
The first thing I see
Every morning
And the last thing I see
Every night.

You are my soul companion,
My family.
You’ve seen my happiness,
My sorrows—
You’ve seen them all.

You’ve been with me
Through my highs and lows,
Adding that addictive buzz to my days
And those incessant vibes
To my nights.

I’m a changed person
All because of you.
I’m surrounded by dozens of
People,
But I don’t see or hear them
Whenever you are with me.
You have all my attention,
My center of attraction.

You make me smile,
You make me cry.
My best memories are safe with you—
So are my deepest, darkest secrets.

You know me like the back of your hand,
Inside and out,
Like a true confidant.

You help me function normally.
How could I ever imagine a day without you?

All those sleepless nights,
Those long hours of sweet nothings—
Were they all in vain?

Come on, now!

I can go on ranting
About us
Like crazy,
All about the special bond
We share.

Now, please!
Don’t make me beg!

Please come back.
Just this once.

At least show up.
Answer me!

I’m going to ask just one more time—

And she blurted out that million-dollar question:

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY PHONE?"

Silence.

— No one could answer her question, not even her quiet phone, vibrating silently in some random corner of the house. —
