(IN)VALIDATION

From childhood, we become accustomed to seeking validation.

"Ah! That's my boy. You did well!"

Sound familiar?

The next time he accomplishes something, he’ll glance back, seeking your reaction—hoping to please you again.

And so begins a vicious cycle—one that ensnares us for life, keeping us trapped in the need for approval.

But at what cost?

Is a life spent chasing approval truly worth it?

Read on to find out....

VALIDATION—it's something
That we all seek
When in doubt,
When we lack confidence,
When we feel
We aren't good enough,
When we feel intimidated
By society,
By the people around us.

It's something
That can make one
Feel a lot better about oneself,
Feel more certain,
And rest assured.

But in reality,
Why seek validation
In the first place?
How well do you know the one validating you?
How could he be trusted to know you better than YOU do?
How can this be a fair trial?

Has he been in your shoes?
Walked your path?
Worked his way upward,
Striving with all his heart?
Been battered by the harsh realities of life?
Felt the weight of both
Praise and humiliation alike?

Think about it, for once.

Being at the receiving end
Is not easy,
While all a validator does
Is a white-collar job
Without soiling his hands.

He zooms in on you,
His black-and-white gaze sweeping over,
His mind calculating a binary solution,
And then—
He judges YOU.
Judges you without a second thought!

Easy!
That's all it takes!

Why would you choose
To put yourself through all this?

Oh, please!

Cut yourself some slack, mate—
If not now, when?

Know your worth,
Believe in yourself,
And stay true to your conscience.

If you still crave validation,
Seek it from your heart—
Trust me, that is the truth.
Nothing but the truth.

Believe in it,
Know your value,
For that's all that matters
In the end.

Value—don't validate!
’Cause—
You Are Valuable!
