Hitting Rock Bottom

There she stood
At the precipice,
Her breath ragged,
Her messy brown hair tangled,
Her heart pounding hard
Within her chest,
With every deep, shaky inhale.

The cold breeze kissed
Her tear-stained face
In a meek attempt
To heal her aching heart.

She closed her eyes tight,
And as she heaved a deep sigh,
She felt her entire life glide by.

Memories—sweet and bitter—
Flashed through her mind,
Surging and falling,
Like ocean waves.

She stood there
For what felt like eternity,
The weight of her burdens
Making her stagger slightly,
Fumbling to strike the right balance.

With one deep breath,
She mustered all her courage
And plunged forward,
Bracing herself to face
Whatever might cross
Her long, winding path—
A path that led to
Infinite darkness.

As she felt herself
Engulfed by the dark nothingness,
She clung on
With nerves of steel,
Gathering every ounce of energy
She had left.
She held on,
Even as hopelessness clawed at her,
Devouring her bit by bit
Along the way.

Then her foot struck
Something solid and firm,
Where she lodged deep,
Like a nail in the wall.

Is this it?
Have I spiraled my way
To rock bottom?
She wondered,
Trembling at the harshness of reality.

Just then...
She looked up
And saw a light—
A light at the end of the tunnel.

Her heart whispered softly:

"Yes, my girl. It's time to spiral upward from rock bottom. This is your stepping stone."

That was all it took.
She regained her energy,
Her spirit renewed,
And began her journey—
Soaring onwards and upwards,
Fueled by courage and newfound grit,
Through the depths of life,
Determined to reach
The light of day,
To survive.
