(Im)Perfectly You, My Love!
Ooh!
A spotless white dress.
Wow!
Such clear, glowing skin.
Or should I say,
The trending Korean "glass" skin?
Ah!
A milky white complexion.
Oh my!
Such silky, straight hair,
Or those gorgeous curls.
Aww!
That chiseled face, just like a Greek God.
Gosh!
Those perfect and shiny white teeth.
Sadly,
These are the standards that many of us
Choose to live by,
Either consciously or subconsciously—
Ideas strongly ingrained somewhere deep down,
That blind our vision in
Noticing just the black spot on a whole sheet of white paper.
Now, just imagine...
What if...
The moon wiped off the wisps of grey,
Desiring a pearly white façade for itself?
The spotted deer shook off those gorgeous
White spots over its body,
Trading for a solid fawn coat instead?
The velvety black crow chose
To color its feathers for a funky, vibrant look?
The vast blue sky chose to adorn itself
In a dark grey cloak all the time,
As if in a period of mourning?
What if the nightingale yearned to swim,
And the catfish longed to fly?
The wings of imagination
Can take one quite far indeed!
In a nutshell,
Aren’t all these wonderful creations
Just perfect the way they are?
Curated with care by the gifted hands of Nature,
Exquisitely designed by one brilliant mind,
Such creations are far beyond the criticism or judgment of the human eye.
If to err
Is humane,
Then, in my humble opinion,
To be imperfect is human too!
'Cause everything that lies in the details—
Those little crow's feet,
Those fine wrinkles,
Those tiny freckles,
Those strands of grey...
Those are the testaments of our hidden truth.
They remind us of our journey in life so far.
They make us truly unique,
Unlike any other.
Ever so lovely,
Ever so imperfect!
So let's
Embrace those flaws,
Set our own standards,
And love the way we are.
'Cause you are special,
Truly (IM) PERFECT,
Just the way you are.
